Individuals and families who wish to learn more about becoming a Foster Family/Parent in Mississippi can start by registering online for an upcoming Orientation Session. If you are married, both spouses must attend the Orientation Session and Training.
At the Orientation Session, which typically lasts around one hour, families will learn what being a Foster Family involves and get an overview of how they can become licensed to provide foster care.
Once a prospective Foster Parent/Family has completed the Orientation, they may register for the next available Rescue 100 Training. Completion of the Orientation Session is required to be eligible to attend the Training. Applicants will need to complete several online courses including; Finance/travel, Child Safety, CPR/First Aid, Team Work and Children Served, and Permanent Connections. Rescue 100 training will then be held on a Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm.
